Can you change 1000 years of economic rule?
Perhaps we should ask first: do we need to change 1000 years of economic rule?
Right now we see that people are stressed, often work too much, do not have enough time for the activities they enjoy, to keep fit, see their friends or other activities. The environment is becoming more and more polluted. Clearly the current system is not working right.
Many people, due to their nature of being inside the system and that system being the accepted reality, do not think about or believe that fundamental change is possible. For example, money is money, you might earn some interest in the bank but in general its value falls over time due to inflation, people need to work for a living and other rules or “laws” of our market system, social system, Marxist system or other system we are used to.
In physics it is probably true that you can’t change gravity, the properties of light, Plank’s constant and other essential laws. However, economics, law and society are built on rules that we have created. Everything has been imagined and so we can imagine something different. Essentially the economy runs on trust and belief. People believe the rules of the current system work and trust they everyone else will follow them. However, when enough people believe a different rule, you get a snowball effect and that new rule becomes the reality. It may be hard to accept because we are not used to looking at things this way, but this is in fact true.
Rules have evolved in a patchwork fashion, developing as needed - ad hoc and sometimes conflicting. The system does not serve us, we work for the system, to keep it functioning and to earn a salary.
Most people are not completely happy with the system. They may work in a job for money instead of pleasure, work more than they need, not have time to stay healthy or enjoy their own activities, not be able to socialise and serve the community. Sometimes, the system leads to bankers to jump off buildings, wars for money or territory. When we can conceive something better, then we can build it better.
Building a better future is a long term goal of Quantum2 Quantum2.io. The only way to do this is from the ground up (starting at a Quantum level). Not evolutionary change but revolutionary change. We are creating an ecosystem that works the way we want it to, with our interests and values at its core. This ecosystem should have solutions which inherently promote our values, without any conflict between what should be done and what is done.
Of course, this is a step-by-step process. So lets look at one step we have made already. We introduced a product - Land Units.
In short, Land Units increase in value 7.5% per year as well as allowing us to buy land and manage that sustainably, as well are various other positive characteristics.
Land Units increase in value over time. In our current system money is the main means of exchange. It decreases in value over time primarily due to inflation. That means the price of coffee (and everything else) gets more expensive over time. The social consequence of that is that you must continue to work more, in order to survive, as well as to buy other things you want.
When your money increases over time and you become wealthier without needing to do anything, following this to its natural conclusion – you do not need to work for money. You can work for pleasure, focus on your health and fitness, focus on quality over quantity, perhaps you would choose social goals or just to rest more. In any case, the choice is yours. In essence this is financial freedom. Society is fundamentally different.
We have more time to spend on what we want, we are less stressed, more healthy and as a consequence, more productive. This is all good.
When we choose to work for pleasure instead of money, companies do not need to pay us. They also do not need to pay dividends and there is no requirement to focus on profit. No one chooses to cut down the rainforests or pollute the oceans – they do it because it is cheaper than other alternatives and so makes more profit. This solution then also benefits the environment.
Therefore it is not only possible to change 1000 years of economic rule, it is vitally necessary and it is necessary right now, before the environment is irreparably damaged or we see even more social problems.
